Suspect waives hearing in sex case

A Coraopolis man waived his right to a preliminary hearing Thursday into charges filed by state police alleging he sexually assaulted two boys numerous time over a four year period in Uniontown and Franklin Township. Michael David Sarver, 28, of Seventh Avenue waived his hearing before Magisterial District Judge Mark Blair on four counts of rape and two counts each of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, aggravated indecent assault, indecent assault and corruption of minors.

Blair returned Sarver to the Fayette County Prison on bail.

The case against Sarver will be forwarded to Common Pleas Court in Fayette County where he will have a trial or accept a plea bargain.

The charges against him were waived to court after First Trial Assistant District Attorney Jack Heneks Jr. and attorney Susan Harper, who was working for the public defender’s office, said they negotiated a tentative plea bargain.

The deal will be presented in Common Pleas Court.

Police allege that the assaults took place from Jan. 1, 2001, to Feb. 15 this year in homes in the two municipalities.
