Charles R. Avery Jr.
Charles R. Avery Jr., age 67, of Connellsville, Pa., passed away Wednesday, October 13, 2005, in Highlands Hospital, Connellsville.
He was born December 6, 1937, in Monarch, Fayette County, Pa., son of Charles R. Avery Sr. and Gladys Shoemaker Avery.
Charles had been a lifelong resident of the Connellsville area.
He graduated from the now former Dunbar Township High School with the class of 1956.
Prior to his retirement in 2002 Charles worked in the Shipping Department for the now former Anchor Hocking Corporation Glass Plant in South Connellsville, Pa.
He was a member of the Connellsville Presbyterian Church and was a Deacon and Elder of the church.
Charles was a member of King Solomon’s Lodge 346 F. & A. M., Uniontown Lodge of Perfection, Consistory Valley of Pittsburgh, Syria Shrine, Royal Arch Chapter and the Comas Club.
When he was able Charles loved working in the garden, crafts, and woodworking.
Charles is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy E. Snyder Avery; his children: Pamela Martin and husband, Michael, of Dawson, Pa., Sharon Tajc and husband, Anthony, of West Leisenring, Pa., Robert Avery and wife, Becki, of Phillipsburg, Missouri, and Charlotte Bartholomai of Connellsville, Pa.; his grandchildren: Michael “Mikey” Martin, Cody Martin, Kaitlyn Tajc, Kassidy Tajc, Nicole Avery, Robbie Avery, Jackie Avery, Nathan Avery, Kendra and Bartholomai and Cody Bartholomai; one great grandchild; and a sister, Dolores J. Avery of Monarch, Pa.
Family and friends will be received in the BROOKS FUNERAL HOME INC., 111 East Green Street, Connellsville, Pa., today from 12 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. where a Funeral Service will be held on Monday, October 17, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Mark Juengel officiating.
A Committal Service and interment will follow in Sylvan Heights Cemetery, Uniontown, Pa.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the American Heart Association or the Diabetes Association in memory of Charles R. Avery Jr.
King Solomon’s Lodge 346 F. & A. M. will conduct a service in the funeral home today at 7:30 p.m.
Visitation was also held Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m.
