Sophia Saluga
Sophia Saluga, age 99, of Irwin, Pa., died on Wednesday, October 12, 2005, in the Baldock Nursing Home.
She was born on May 12, 1906, in Leisenring, Pa., a daughter of Anthony and Catherine (Valenchik) Saluga.
Sophia enjoyed sewing, quilting, baking and gardening.
Her parents, six brothers, Joseph, Stephen, John, Frank, Anthony and Michael Saluga, and two sisters, Katherine Fordyce and Maria Fiffick, preceded her in death.
Left to cherish her memory are her sister, Veronica Semanchko; her nieces and caretakers, Dolores Sullivan and Barbara Canistra; and several other nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received in the STEPHEN R. HAKY FUNERAL HOME INC. AT SYLVAN HEIGHTS CEMETERY, A Dignity Memorial Provider, 603 North Gallatin Avenue Extension, Uniontown, Pa., today from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. and on Monday, October 17, until 10 a.m. when a Panachida Service will be held.
Divine Liturgy will follow at 10:30 a.m. in Saint John The Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church, East Main Street, Uniontown, with the Rev. Father Thomas J. Wesdock as Celebrant.
Interment will follow in Saint Mary (Nativity) Cemetery, Uniontown
