Sallie Belle Moon

Sallie Belle Kerns Moon, 81 years old, formerly of Vanderbilt, Pa., quietly went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 15, 2005, from the home of her loving daughter, son-in-law and grandsons in Connellsville, Pa. She was born on May 26, 1924, in Clinton, South Carolina.

Sallie was a longtime member of the United Baptist Church, Connellsville, Pa., where she served as the past President of The Usher Board, served on the Kitchen Committee and was a member of the Sunday School.

She was one of the original members of Club 12, the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Unit 762, Trotter, Pa., and the Senior Advisory Council of Fayette County.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Liller and Oscar Kerns, her loving husband, Maurice “Red” Moon, and three sisters, Beulah Rustin, Elizabeth Lampkins and Rosa Lee Thompson.

Left to cherish her memory are her two sons: Maurice M. Moon and companion, Darlene, of Laurel, Maryland, and Leslie Moon and his wife, Evelyn, of Camp Springs, Maryland; her daughter, Natalie “Toni” Moon Coles and her husband, Walter Coles, of Connellsville, Pa.; seven grandchildren: Myeta Moon, Kameela Moon, Marcus Moon, Jibri Moon, Jerel Coles, Christopher Slaughter and Tre’ Coles; one sister, Jaeoulah Russell of Seat Pleasant, Maryland; a sister-in-law, Mary Fuller of Homestead, Pa.; special niece, Lynn Battle, and a special nephew, Barry Russell, both of Maryland; friends: Denise Baker, Deacon James Baker and Crystal, and Jean and Charles Searcy all of Inkster, Michigan; other nieces and nephews; a host of other relatives and friends; her dedicated caregiver, Pauline Ned of Connellsville, Pa.; and the Albert Gallatin Hospice team of Uniontown, Pa.

Friends will be announced at UNITED BAPTIST CHURCH , 126 North First Street, Connellsville, Pa., on Tuesday, October 18, from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. and on Wednesday, October 19, until the hour of Service at 11 a.m. with Pastor Albert Winfrey officiating.

Interment will follow in Green Ridge Memorial Park, Pennsville, Pa.

Arrangements are under direction of the MURIEL E. LANTZ FUNERAL HOME, 297 East Main Street, Uniontown, Pa.
