Margaret M. Copney
Margaret Magalene Copney, 91, of Kingwood, W.Va., passed peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, Oct. 16, 2005, at her home. She was born June 30, 1914, in Kingwood, the daughter of the late John Henry and Mary Frances Price Younger.
She worked for many years doing housework for residents of Kingwood and Morgantown, and retired from Sheidow Bronze, where she worked as a layout worker. Mrs. Copney was a member of the Love Chapel United Methodist Church. She served as church historian, church pianist and was named Mother of the Church, recognizing her as the longest living member of the church.
She is survived by two sons, Charles C. Copney and companion, Alice King and Melvin E. Copney and companion, Carol L. Middleton, all of Uniontown, Pa.; one daughter, Nancy Jane Copney of Kingwood; one sister, Mabel G. Jackson of Chicago, Ill.; a special friend, Charles Rhodes; 11 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nephews, including Laura Spencer of Fayetteville, N.C.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Copney on March 30, 1978, her son, Ray Copney, and 11 brothers and sisters.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. ,today at the BROWNING FUNERAL HOME, 201 East Main St., Kingwood. Funeral services will e conducted at 11 a.m., on Thursday, Oct. 20, 2005, in the Wesley United Methodist Church in Kingwood, with Pastor James R. Calloway Pastor Ralph Raybeck and Pastor Robert A. Crable officiating. Mrs. Copney will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at Maplewood Cemetery in Kingwood.
