Human Service Council to graduate first class
The Fayette County Human Service Council will graduate its first class of Community Builders on Monday in the Fayette Chamber of Commerce office on Main Street in Uniontown. According to the council, community builders of Fayette County provides learning and networking opportunities for people who want to help build a solid Fayette County and make a difference in their community.
Funded by the Fayette County Office of Human and Community Services and supported by Penn State Cooperative Extension, the council said the Community Builders initiative helps build up people who will, in turn, share their skills and knowledge throughout the county.
One way Community Builders will help strengthen the community is by matching these trained individuals with nonprofits looking for new board members or volunteers, according to the council.
Nonprofit organizations, volunteer community groups, and clubs and associations can contact the Fayette County Human Service Council, which will help them find a good match with someone from the Community Builders course. The council can be found on the web at www.fayettehumanservicecouncil.org or those interested can call Cheryl at 724-425-1818.
The council said graduates are prepared to take leadership and volunteer in the areas of social services, the environment, faith-based groups, the arts, education, community development, and support for special populations like children and the elderly. The class represents adults of all ages who come from all areas of the county.
