Fairchance man waives case to court in fatal accident

By The 2 min read

A Fairchance man charged with leaving his friend in a car after he was in an Aug. 10 accident waived the charges against him to Fayette County Court. State police charge Christopher Mark Mesler, 22, of 3 Clark Lane with accidents involving death or personal injury, recklessly endangering another person and three summary violations related to the Vehicle Code.

Trooper Antonio DeMarchi alleged that Mesler was driving his vehicle along East Elm Street, about 200 feet west of Gallatin Street in Georges Township, when he lost control around 1:05 a.m. Mesler’s friend, Michael Robert Kisko, was inside when the crash occurred, police said.

After the accident, police alleged that Mesler “exited the vehicle and fled the scene on foot without providing aid to his injured passenger, or alerting authorities to the crash.”

Mesler reportedly told police that he and Kisko went to the Hi-To bar around 11:30 p.m., and acknowledged having a few drinks. They were headed to another local tavern to meet friends when the accident occurred, police said.

After the accident, Mesler reportedly told police that he remembered hitting something, and then running from the vehicle. As he was running, Mesler told police he stopped a truck with men inside and told them to call 9-1-1. Police alleged Mesler told them he ran from the scene because he had been drinking.

Mesler reportedly told police that he did not go home until the following morning, when he contacted authorities.

Mesler is free on unsecured bail.
