Pete Hegyes
Pete Hegyes, 91, of Dawson, Pa., passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2005, at his home. He was born July 13, 1914, in Taylor, Pa., the son of the late Michael Hegyes and Elizabeth (Maskarenec) Hegyes.
Pete was a member of St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church of Perryopolis, Pa. He was a World War II veteran, serving in the Army Air Corps and in the CC Camp. He was a member of U.M.W.A. District 5, retired from Emerald Coal and Coke, Alicia Cokeyard and from Hillman Barge.
He is survived by three sons, Peter E. Hegyes and his wife, Faye of Perryopolis, Richard M. Hegyes and his wife, Cheryl of Mount Pleasant, and Robert J. Hegyes of Dawson; one daughter, Thomasine G. “Penny” Hegyes-Homsher of Perryopolis; seven grandchildren, Mark Hegyes, Kelli Ohler, Dawn Hegyes, Michael Hegyes, Scott Hegyes, Patricia Homsher and Danielle Caschera; three great-grandchildren, Aaron Hegyes, Megan Hegyes and Darin Ohler; and two sisters, Elizabeth Betsko of Taylor, Pa., and Helen Klamerus of Carmichaels, Pa.
He is predeceased by his parents, his wife, Anna Hegyes, a brother, Michael Hegyes and a sister, Margaret Camarano.
Friends will be received in the BLAIR-LOWTHER FUNERAL HOME INC., 106 East Independence St., Perryopolis on Thursday, Oct. 27, 2005 from 2 to 9 p.m., and on Friday, Oct. 28, 2005 until the 11 a.m., Parastas Service which will be held with the Rev. Fr. Robert Halus officiating. Interment will follow in St. Nicholas Cemetery, Perryopolis.
