Helene Lenard Smutsky, age 78, of Hopwood, Pa., passed away Saturday morning, October 29, 2005, in the Shadyside Hospital, Pittsburgh, Pa. She was born May 14, 1927, in Uniontown, Pa., the daughter of Frank Lenard and Mary Ann Rerko Lenard.

Helene was a member of Saint Mary (Nativity) Roman Catholic Church in Uniontown.

She worked for many years at the Pennsylvania Department of Welfare office in Uniontown.

Helene was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Frank Smutsky (Zmudski), on Thursday evening, May 26 of this year, also her parents and her sisters, Theresa Lenard Sankovich, Frances Lenard Stoviak and Betty Lenard Hnatt.

She is survived by her loving and devoted children: Lynn M. Smutsky Ridilla and her husband, John, of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Robert F. Smutsky and his wife, Andrea, of Dillsburg, Pa.; her grandsons whom she loved and adored: Bobby Smutsky and John Ridilla; her sister, Margaret Lenard Venick of Uniontown, Pa.; several loving nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.

Friends will be received in the STEPHEN E. KEZMARKSY III FUNERAL HOME AT 71 PENNSYLVANIA AVENUE, UNIONTOWN, Pa., today from 7 to 9 p.m., Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday morning, November 1, from 10 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. when Prayers of Transfer will be said.

A Mass of Christian Burial follows at 12 noon in Saint Mary (Nativity) Roman Catholic Church with her nephew, the Rev. Father Leonard W. Stoviak, as Celebrant.

Interment will follow in Mount Macrina Cemetery, Uniontown.

Rev. Father Leonard Stoviak will have a Wake Service in the funeral home on Monday evening at 7:30 p.m.
