Agnes J. Smitley Maher
Agnes J. Smitley Maher, age 82, of Dunbar, Pa., died on Friday, October 28, 2005, at home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on April 13, 1923, in Dunbar, Pa., a daughter of Peter Smitley and Jane (Reed) Smitley.
Agnes was a homemaker most of her life and had earlier been employed as an inspector for the United States government in the tri-state area.
She had also been a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary.
Her parents, her beloved husband, Vincent A. Maher, brothers, Jack Smitley, P. C. Smitley and Don Smitley, infant sisters, Aubrey Smitley and Sarah Margaret Smitley, and an infant brother, Charles Donald Smitley, preceded her in death.
Left to cherish her memory are her children: Vincent A. Maher and his wife, Donna, and Charles R. Maher all of Connellsville, Pa., Judy A. Franko and her husband, Jack, of Norvelt, Pa., Jackie L. Harrer and Jeffrey A. Maher and his wife, Rosanne, all of Connellsville, Pa.; nine grandchildren: Judy Lynn Ross, Erica Franko, Jared Harrer, Georganne Cecil, Ashley Cecil, Andy Cecil, Jade Maher, Joshua Maher and Michael Maher; three great grandchildren: Gabrielle Porecca, Dylan Ross and Jace Ross; a brother, Thomas Smitley of Uniontown, Pa.; two sisters: Mildred DeBlasio of Butler, Pa., and Millicent Churray of Dunbar, Pa.; numerous nieces and nephews and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.
Friends will be received in the STEPHEN R. HAKY FUNERAL HOME INC. AT SYLVAN HEIGHTS CEMETERY, A Dignity Memorial Provider, 603 North Gallatin Avenue Extension, Uniontown, Pa., today, October 31, from 2 to 9 p.m. and on Tuesday, November 1, until 11 a.m., the hour of Service in the Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Bernard Carl officiating.
Interment will be private in Sylvan Heights Cemetery.
Visitation was also held Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m.
