Roundup of several local election races listed

The following is roundup of several local races in the Nov. 8 general election. Dunbar Twp.

Democrat Larry Mayros beat John Toby Tabaj, Larry Jeffers, Raymond Huffine, Bob Richter Sr. and Sherwood Hughes in the May primary to secure a spot on the November ballot.

Mayros will replace longtime Supervisor Eugene Frazier, barring any write-ins, who decided to retire. There is no Republican candidate on the ballot.

Democratic incumbent Marigrace Butela will face Republican newcomer Cara Brooks for the tax collector’s seat.

Bullskin Twp.

Democrat Scott Keefer beat Mark Whittaker and James Fabian in the May primary. Barring any write-ins, Keefer will be the new supervisor. Keefer will replace supervisor John Coughenour who decided not to seek re-election.

Democratic incumbent Louis Bell will retain his seat as tax collector, barring any write-ins.

There are no Republican candidates in either race.

Lower Tyrone Twp.

Sean Ferris won the Democratic bid for supervisor Luke Knapp’s seat on the township board. Knapp decided not to seek re-election. Ferris beat fellow Democrat Terry McClelland. There is no Republican on the ballot and barring any write-ins, Ferris will assume the six-year position.

Dawson

Democratic Mayor Barbara Wilhelm is running unopposed in addition to Democratic incumbent council members Patty Lint, John Nudo and Phyllis Newell.

Democrat Corrine McKnight is the only candidate for tax collector. There are no Republican candidates for those offices on the ballot.

Dunbar

Democrat Mayor John Williams, who won his bid for re-election in the May primary against newcomer Democrat Michael Lafisca, will retain his seat, barring write-ins.

Council Republican incumbents Harold Hair and Ross Gross will run for two of the four open seats. The other two candidates are former Democratic councilman James Martin and newcomer Democrat Walt Martin. Barring write-ins all four candidates should win council seats.

The only candidate for tax collector is Democrat Charlene Lafisca.

Vanderbilt

Democratic Mayor Joseph Ambrose is unopposed and barring a write-ins he will be re-elected.

Four seats are available on council and the four Democratic incumbents will appear on the ballot. They are council president Thomas Sankovich, Betty Keffer, Duane King and Dennis Lowe.

Democrat Michael Gualtieri will face Republican incumbent Jack Washabaugh for a two-year open council seat.

Democrat Lisa Washabaugh has no opposition for tax collector.
