George A. Gruhalla
George A. Gruhalla, 78, of Daisytown, Pa., died Thursday, Sept. 1, 2005, in the Washington Hospital. He was born Feb. 22, 1927, in Daisytown, Pa., a son of Joseph J. and Agnes Zayak Gruhalla Sr.
Mr. Gruhalla was a 1944 graduate of California High School and served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a tank operator in Europe. He received the Army of Occupation Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. He was a lifetime member of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Daisytown. He retired after 28 years of service as a Produce Manager for Thorofare in Charleroi, Pa.
Surviving are two nieces, Gerry Rapchak and her husband, Ben of Daisytown, and Barbara Sculli and her husband, Jim of Bentleyville; three nephews, Ralph Gruhalla and his wife, Loretta of Coraopolis, Martin Gruhalla and his wife, Marlene of Painesville, Ohio, and Thomas Gruhalla and his wife, Donna of Coal Center; and several great-nieces and nephews.
Mr. Gruhalla was the last of his immediate family.
Deceased in addition to his parents are three brothers, Joseph Gruhalla Jr., Martin Gruhalla Sr., and John Gruhalla; and two sisters, Sophie and Ann Gruhalla..
