Lawrence J. Campbell
Lawrence J. Campbell, 71, of Waynesburg, Pa., passed away Saturday, Sept. 3, 2005, at Rolling Meadows Nursing Home, Waynesburg, Pa., after a very long illness. He was born Jan. 8, 1934, in Richhill Township, Wind Ridge, Pa.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret “Polly” Wishart (Parrott) Campbell of 32 years; his mother, Josephine Bristro; a daughter, Kathryn Ann Giovanelli of Millsboro, Pa.; a son, Charles Mitchell Wishart of Terra Alta, W.Va.; three grandchildren, Jason Giovanelli, Jennifer Wishart and Thornton Stratton; and two great-grandchildren, Courtney and Danny Hibbs.
He was a graduate of Wind Ridge High School in 1951, and attended Penn Commercial in 1960. He was district foreman for Equitrans in Finleyville, Pa., for 17 years. He served in the U.S. Navy in the Asian Theater from 1954 to 1957 as a Yeoman Second Class on the USS Wisconsin during the Korean War. He was a life member of VFW Waynesburg, Finleyville Post 613 American Legion, and Waynesburg Moose No. 461, and a NRA life member.
Friends will be received in the FRANK BURKUS FUNERAL HOME, 26 Mill St., Millsboro, Pa., today from 7 to 9 p.m., and on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., where services will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m., with the Rev. James D. Lewis Sr. officiating. Interment will be in Greene County Memorial Park, Waynesburg, Pa. Graveside military services by American Legion Post 613 of Finleyville.
