Girl Scout sign-up
There will be two sign-up nights for girls in the Perryopolis area who are interested in joining Girl Scouts this year. The first will be held at the Perryopolis Borough Building on Thursday at 7 p.m. and the other will be held at the Jefferson Township Shed on Sept. 14 at 6:30 p.m. For more information, contact Sue at 724-326-5662.
PAHS meeting
The regular meeting of the PAHS has been rescheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Old State Bank Museum. Carol Coldren thanks everyone who helped make the peach festival a success again this year.
Newell Methodist
The Newell United Methodist Church will hold a spaghetti dinner on Sept. 10 from 4 to 7 p.m.
Cost is $6 for adults, $3 for children and those 6 and under may eat free.
Cheerleading
Rocks-n-Roll’s Competitive Cheerleading Squad took first place at PNC Park’s Pirate Pro Sports Competition on Aug. 27. The girls were also selected to participate in the State Street Thanksgiving Day Parade in Chicago, and their choice of Nokia’s Sugar Bowl in New Orleans or Orlando’s Capital One’s Halftime Show on New Year’s Day.
The winning cheerleaders include Kaley Barota, Keanna Bertocci, Morgan Eckman, Amanda King, Laura Krajzel, Anna Lazar, Ana Lemley, Rachael Lonce, Brooke Protos, Courteney Protos, Jessica Russell, Chandler Twigg and Ashley Uhrin.
Book Club
The Book Club returns from summer vacation with “Kite Runner” by Khaled Hosseini. The book club will meet on Sept. 26 in the library.
Library news
The Mary Fuller Frazier Community Library Children’s Story Hour is scheduled for Sept. 17 from 11 a.m. to noon. The theme will be “Raggedy Ann.”
The library is closed for Labor Day and will reopen on Sept. 6.
Christian Church
All-church picnic will be held Sept 11 at 3 p.m. Ken and June Ansell have graciously agreed to have the picnic in their beautiful pavilion again this year. The church will be providing the hamburgers, hot dogs, buns and drinks and everyone is asked to bring a favorite side dish, salad or dessert.
The proposed budget for 2006 will also be presented to the congregation for approval.
