Wilbert R. “Bert” Rugg
Wilbert R. “Bert” Rugg, age 85, of Mill Run, Pa., died Saturday, September 3, 2005, at his home.
He was born March 15, 1920, in Lower Turkeyfoot Township, Fayette County, Pa., son of Thornton Rugg and Susie Ohler Rugg.
Mr. Rugg was a resident of the Mill Run area all of his life.
During his lifetime he worked as a farmer and a timber man.
He liked hunting and playing horseshoes and he was a member of the National Horseshoe Pitcher’s Association.
He formerly attended the People’s United Church of Maple Summit.
He was predeceased by his parents, three brothers, Henry, Lloyd and James Rugg, and five sisters, Alice Harbaugh, Annie Williams, Grace Basinger, Amanda Shroyer and Florence Ream.
He is survived by his wife, Emma Grace Shay Rugg; one son, Raymond Rugg and his wife, Sandy, of Mill Run, Pa.; a brother and sister-in-law, Paul Shay and his wife, Helen; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received in the CLYDE BROOKS FUNERAL HOME INC., ROUTE 711, MELCROFT, Pa., on Monday (Labor Day) from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 1 to 9 p.m. where Services will be held on Wednesday, September 7, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Peter Malik officiating.
Interment will follow in Imel Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the Somerset Hospital, Somerset Hospice, Interim, and two special caregivers, Sharma Hawk and Stephen Burd, for their excellent care and attention to Bert during his illness.
