Grant revealed

1 min read

U.S. Rep. John Murtha (D-Johnstown) said Thursday that the City of Uniontown has received a federal grant for $10,607 for police-department initiatives. The city will use the grant to develop crime prevention awareness materials and to provide preparedness training to police officers in conjunction with the fire department and emergency and medical services.

“These initiatives are part of Uniontown’s efforts to improve the ability of police officers to respond to incidents and accidents and to lower the crime rate in the city,” Murtha said. “Finding the money for special projects like these is often impossible in cash-strapped communities that struggle with tight budgets even in their day-to-day operations, but these grants provide the funding they need to support activities that help to prevent and control crime.”

The grant was provided by the Department of Justice’s Edward Bryne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant program.
