Frank S. Masterbray
Frank S. Masterbray, 85, of Dunbar Township, Pa., died Friday, Sept. 9, 2005, at Highlands Hospital, Connellsville. He was born Oct. 29, 1919, in Leisenring No. 3, Pa., a son of the late Anthony and Katarzyna Jakiela (Mascibrzuch) Masterbray.
He was a veteran of World War II, where he serviced with the Army Air Corps.
Prior to his retirement in 1984, Frank was employed as an ironworker with the former Steel Scaffolding Company. He also worked as a self-employed farmer.
He was a member of Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church of Connellsville, the Polish Club, and the V.F.W. North Union Post.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Sophia Baran Masterbray; three sons, Anthony “Tony” Masterbray of Uniontown, John Masterbray and wife, Sally Garred of Dunbar, and Charles Masterbray and fianc?, Kelley Beck of Dunbar; a daughter, Frances Masterbray and fianc?, Roger Brown of Uniontown; seven grandchildren, Jennifer Thomas and husband, Tim, Jacquline Gnibus and husband, Colin, Matthew Farris and wife, Heather, Amanda, Jessica, Rebecca and John Masterbray Jr.; seven great-grandchildren, Aaron and Dalton Farris, Savannah and Logan Thomas and Ava, Hannah and Noah Gnibus; a sister, Mary Bittner of Dunbar Township; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three infant siblings, Matthew, Stanley and Amelia Masterbray; two brothers, Joseph and John Masterbray; and two sisters, Rose Johns and Josephine Miller.
Friends will be received today from 7 to 9 p.m., and Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., in the PAUL G. FINK FUNERAL HOME INC., 418 North Pittsburgh St., Connellsville, where a Blessing Service will be held on Tuesday at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m., in Holy Trinity R.C. Church, Connellsville, with the Rev. Fr. John Butler as celebrant. Interment will follow in Holy Trinity R.C. Cemetery, Connellsville. A Parish Wake Service will be held in the funeral home on Monday at 3 p.m.
