Frank S. Masterbray
Frank S. Masterbray, age 85, of Dunbar Township, Fayette County, Pa., died Friday, September 9, 2005, at Highlands Hospital, Connellsville, Pa. He was born October 29, 1919, in Leisenring No. 3, Pa., son of Anthony and Katarzyna Jakiela (Mascibrzuch) Masterbray.
He was a veteran of World War II who served with the United States Army Air Corps.
Prior to his retirement in 1984, Frank was employed as an ironworker with the former Steel Scaffolding Company in Uniontown, Pa. He also worked as a self-employed farmer.
He was a member of Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church in Connellsville, The Polish Club, and North Union Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8543.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three infant siblings, Matthew, Stanley and Amelia Masterbray, two brothers, Joseph and John Masterbray, and two sisters, Rose Johns and Josephine Miller.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Sophia Baran Masterbray; three sons: Anthony “Tony” Masterbray of Uniontown, Pa., John Masterbray and his wife, Sally Garred, of Dunbar, Pa., and Charles Masterbray and his fianc?e, Kelley Beck, of Dunbar; a daughter, Frances Masterbray and her fianc?, Roger Brown, of Uniontown; seven grandchildren: Jennifer Thomas and husband Tim, Jacquline Gnibus and husband Colin, Matthew Farris and wife Heather, Amanda, Jessica, Rebecca and John Masterbray Jr.; seven great-grandchildren: Aaron and Dalton Farris, Savannah and Logan Thomas, Ava, Hannah and Noah Gnibus; a sister, Mary Bittner of Dunbar Township; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received in the PAUL G. FINK FUNERAL HOME INC., 418 North Pittsburgh Street, Connellsville, Pa., Dennis N. Heath, Supervisor, today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. where a Blessing Service will be held on Tuesday, September 13, at 9:30 a.m.
A Funeral Mass follows at 10 a.m. in Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, North Seventh Street, Connellsville, with the Rev. Fr. John Butler as Celebrant.
Interment will follow in Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Cemetery, Connellsville, where Full Military Honors will be accorded at graveside by General George C. Marshall AMVETS Post 103 of Hopwood, Pa.
A Parish Wake Service will be held in the funeral home today at 3 p.m.
Visitation was also held Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m.
