Arley Lee Burd
Arley Lee Burd, age 87, of Farmington, Pa., passed away Saturday, September 10, 2005, at the home of his daughter in Elizabeth, Pa. He was born April 4, 1918, in Markleysburg, Pa., son of Walter L. Burd and Rhodie Savage Burd.
Mr. Burd was a member of Union Chapel Church.
He was a veteran of the United States Army who served during World War II and held membership in the Disabled American Veterans, the General George C. Marshall AMVETS Post 103 in Hopwood, Pa., and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 47 in Uniontown, Pa.
He retired from United States Steel Corporation’s Irwin Works in 1975.
He was predeceased by his parents, his wife, Altha May Perkins Burd (January of 1995), and these sisters and brothers, Nellie Harris, C. E. Brooks, Samuel Emory Burd, Palmar Burd, Jean Fekete and Rose Moyers.
Surviving are seven children: Nina Raye Burkett of Elizabeth, Pa., Ina Faye Migliori of McKeesport, Pa., Arley L. Burd Jr. of Indiana, Donald Burd of Hopwood, Pa., Loretta Burnworth of Kansas, Wayne Alison Burd of Virginia and George Burd of Donora, Pa.; twenty-two grandchildren and twenty-five great grandchildren.
Friends will be received in the DONALD R. CRAWFORD FUNERAL HOME, Hopwood, Pa., today, September 13, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday, September 14, until 11 a.m., the hour of the Service with Pastor David Herring officiating.
Interment will follow in Sunset View Cemetery, Chalk Hill, Pa.
