Helen Cecelia (Lemansky) Miscovich
Helen Cecelia (Lemansky) Miscovich, age 90, of Uniontown, Pa., died peacefully on Saturday, September 10, 2005, in Mount Macrina Manor with her loving family by her side. She was born on April 22, 1915, in Mutual, Westmoreland County, Pa., daughter of Michael Lemansky and Cecelia (Cwiklinski) Lemansky Zuchowsky and stepdaughter of John Zuchowsky.
Helen was a member of Saint Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Uniontown, Saint Joseph’s Choir and Saint Joseph’s Confraternity of Christian Mothers.
She was the past President of The Happy Helen’s Club, which she organized.
She was a former Charter Member and had held a 15-year term as President of The Catholic War Veterans Auxiliary.
She was also a member of the General George C. Marshall AMVETS Post 103 Auxiliary in Hopwood, Pa., the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 47 Auxiliary in Uniontown, The Circle Club in Uniontown and Saint Mary’s Golden Age Cub.
Helen was a former member of “The Grandma Honeys” singers and dancers where she closed each program with Kate Smith’s “God Bless America”.
She was very active socially and politically as a Democratic Committeewoman and at The Medical Arts Building where she was employed for many years.
She was a great supporter of the veterans of this country and participated in providing research for the book “Heroes All”.
Helen was very proud of her Polish heritage and of her family!
She is remembered by many as the disk jockey with host John Marowa on the Saturday morning polka program, which aired on WMBS Radio Station 590 AM for over ten years.
Her parents, stepfather, her husband, Albert Louis Miscovich, two brothers, Francis Lemansky and Clarence Lemansky, and sons-in-law, John Quarrick and William Gasher, preceded her in death.
Left to cherish her memory are her children: Constance “Connie” Miscovich Quarrick of Uniontown, Pa., Alberta Miscovich Gasher of Brook Park, Ohio, Norbert Miscovich and his wife, Mary Ellen, of Marysville, Ohio, Vincent Miscovich and his wife, Donna, of Uniontown, Pa., and Timothy Miscovich and his wife, Karen, of Ashburn, Virginia; twelve grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter; six sisters and brothers: Agnes Shinsky and John Lemansky both of Uniontown, Pa., Regina Houk of Bethel Park, Pa., Anthony “Tony” Lemansky, Michael Lemansky and Thomas Lemansky all of Uniontown, Pa.; numerous nieces and nephews; and eleven Godchildren.
Friends will be received in the STEPHEN R. HAKY FUNERAL HOME INC. AT SYLVAN HEIGHTS CEMETERY, A Dignity Memorial Provider, 603 North Gallatin Avenue Extension, Uniontown, Pa., today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Prayers of Transfer will be said on Wednesday, September 14, 2005 at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home.
A Mass of Christian Burial in Saint Joseph Roman Catholic Church will be held at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Father Matthew Brozovic as Celebrant. Interment will follow in Saint Joseph Roman Catholic Cemetery, Hopwood, Pa.

Saint Joseph’s Confraternity of Christian Mothers and the Happy Helens’ Club will recite the Rosary today at 3 p.m. followed by the Saint Joseph’s Parish Vigil by the Ministry of Consolation. The Uniontown Fire Department Ritual will be held at 7:30 p.m.
Visitation was also held Monday evening from 7 to 9 p.m.
