Elizabeth Maria (Rosie) Brice
Elizabeth Maria (Rosie) Brice, 98, of Masontown, Pa., died on Sunday, September 11, 2005, in the Uniontown Hospital, Uniontown, Pa., surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Tuscany, Italy on November 26, 1906, daughter of Giovanni and Genoveffa (Nencini) Rosie. She came to the United States in March of 1907 at the age of four months with her brother Nello, age two years.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, two brothers, Nello (Albert) and John (Jiggs), and a sister, Ada. On November 15, 1930 she married Alfred Brice who died March 18, 1983.
Surviving are four children: Richard Brice and wife, Dolores of Rochester, N.Y., Genevieve Outrich Rhoades and husband, J.R. of Masontown, Pa., Elizabeth Ann Kuhn and husband, Thomas of Huntington Beach, Calif., Madelyn Zakrzewski and husband, Joseph of Jamesburg, N. J.; 18 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; five great great-grandchildren; a sister Alba Yeagle of Masontown, Pa.; and many nieces and nephews.
She was a 75 year member of All Saints Roman Catholic Church, assistant housekeeper for All Saints Rectory for 22 years, and custodian of All Saints School and Church for two years.
Along with her husband, she helped maintain Saint Agnes Cemetery for many years. She was a charter member of All Saints Confraternity of Christian Mothers and a member of the Friends of The Library. For many years she volunteered at the Masontown Senior Center and Helping Hands Thrift Store.
An avid gardener, she loved to plant vegetables and flowers.
Friends will be received in the HAKY FUNERAL HOME, INC, A Dignity Memorial Provider, 515 North Main Street, Masontown, Pa., today until 9:30 a.m. when Prayers of Transfer will be said.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at All Saints Roman Catholic Church at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Father James F. Bump as Celebrant. Interment will follow in Saint Agnes Cemetery, Leckrone, Pa.
In lieu of flowers, Please make memorial contributions to All Saints Social Hall or the German-Masontown Public Library.
