Luzerne supervisors vote to split project bill
LUZERNE TWP. – During a brief township supervisor’s meeting Tuesday, board members voted to rescind a previous motion to split the cost of a sewerage project feasibility study with Brownsville Municipal Authority, and elected instead to split the $6,000 bill with Luzerne Township Sewage Authority. Widmer Engineering will conduct the study. The supervisors also conducted the following business:
– Announced that PennDOT contractors are still constructing a new road from Isabella to East Millsboro roads, causing one-way traffic and delays.
– Voted to approve the minimum municipal obligations for 2006 township pension plans.
– Announced paving projects had begun and garbage for Green, Howard and York streets will be picked up Thursday.
– Voted to halt burning because of dry weather.
– Announced that Luzerne Township Municipal Building will be closed Monday, Oct. 10, in observation of Columbus Day.
The next regular supervisors’ meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 11, at 3 p.m. in the municipal building.
