Alexander (Pappy) Gola

Alexander (Pappy) Gola, “The Lawn Mower Man”, 67, of Elco, Pa., died Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2005 in Mon Valley Hospital Inc. He was born Oct. 25, 1937, in Fayette City (Newell Short Cut Road), Pa., a son of the late Alex and Helen Bennington Gola.

He was Methodist by faith and a member of the Allenport Rod and Gun Club. He retired after 20 years of service from the Oil Well Tubing Department of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel, Allenport Plant.

Surviving are his wife, Nancy Chucuddy Gola with whom he would have celebrated their 47th wedding anniversary on Dec. 6, 2005. Also surviving are six children, Teresa Gola of North Versailles, Thomas Gola of Stockdale, Susan Cullen and husband, James of Elco, Alex J. Gola and Jeannie of Allenport, Ronald L. Gola of Elco; a brother, Elmer Gola and wife, Debra of Newell; and nine grandchildren, J.J. and Christopher Cullen, Tiffany Gola, Alex J. Gola, Patrick Short, Heather DeAngelo and David, Justin and Catherine.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Arnold, Primas, Theodore and David,, and three sisters, Elizabeth Bodnar, Evelyn Welz and Helen MacFann.

Friends will be received today from 7 to 9 pm., and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., in the ED MELENYZER FUNERAL HOMES INC., Roscoe, where funeral services will be held on Saturday, Sept. 17, 2005, at 11:30 a.m., with Pastor John Thomas of the Calvary Chapel officiating. Entombment will be in LaFayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill, Pa.
