Mary Frances Magie

Mary Frances Provance Magie, 79, of Mount Pleasant, Pa., died Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2005, at her home. Mrs. Magie was born Aug. 4, 1926, in Smithfield, Pa., a daughter of the late William and Mary Britt Provance.

She was a volunteer at Frick Hospital, where she worked in the coffee shop, she was a blood drive volunteer for 25 years, and she was a secretary for Kaufman’s store in Uniontown.

She was a member of the Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church, the Mount Pleasant Women’s Club, where she was past vice president and the Order of the Amarnth Court No. 46, where she was a past officer.

She is survived by her loving family: her five daughters, Karen Lewis and her husband, David of Mount Pleasant, Susan Boggio and her husband, Richard of Blairsville, Nancy Shaw and her husband, Stevan of Mount Pleasant, Beth Ellen Magie of Mount Pleasant, and Amy Ross and her husband, Tobin of Murrysville; eight grandchildren, Kelly Kattera Butler, Michelle Kattera Pocratsky and her husband, Ray, Seth Overly and his wife, Danielle, Benjamin Boggio, Dianna Shaw, Christopher Shaw, Zachary Ross and Jacob Ross; and her great-granddaughter, Kayla Butler. She is also survived by her brother, William Provance and his wife, Claire of Hopwood, her two sisters, Ethel Mae Hawkins and her husband, Forrest of Morgantown, W.Va., and Shirley Skapes of Strongsville, Ohio; her sister-in-law, Gretchen Ciaramella of Hopwood; her brother-in-law, Thomas Watson of Vienna W.Va.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel B. Magie in 1992, her infant daughter, Mary Patricia Magie, her brother, Lloyd M. Provance, her sister, Blanche Ellen Peake and her infant grandson, Elijah Samuel Pocratsky in 2004.

Friends will be received on Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m., and on Sunday from 1 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., at GALONE-CARUSO FUNERAL HOME INC., 204 Eagle St., Mount Pleasant. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11 a.m., in the funeral home, with the Rev. Richard L. Hartman officiating. The Order of the Amaranth Court No. 46 will have a service at 8 p.m., on Sunday in the funeral home. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made in memory of Mrs. Magie to The American Red Cross, 521 Plymouth St., Greensburg, PA 15601. Interment will be in Sylvan Heights Cemetery, Uniontown.
