Family asks for help finding missing Fairbank man

By Jennifer Harr 2 min read

The family of a 49-year-old Fairbank man is asking the public for help to find him. Paul Baker was last seen on Sept. 7, his ex-wife, Marge Baker, said Thursday. He got into a dark blue car with two other men around 9 or 9:30 a.m. that day, and has not been in contact with his family since.

Baker said it was not unusual for her ex-husband to leave for a day at a time, but never for such a prolonged length of time.

She said Paul Baker was excited as he planned to start truck-driving school on Sept. 19.

“We don’t know if he met foul play or something else happened,” Marge Baker said.

After a few days without hearing from him, Marge Baker said his mother contacted state police in Belle Vernon.

Cpl. Timothy Cross said that authorities initially carried the case as an “attempt to locate” because Baker left willingly.

Cross said police recently talked to Baker’s brother, who said Paul Baker usually comes home to change clothes or calls in and does not leave for extended periods of time without doing so. Authorities are now calling Baker’s disappearance a missing person’s case and are asking anyone with information to call the barracks at 724-929-6262.

Marge Baker said her ex-husband was wearing blue jeans and a dark colored t-shirt when he left. The driver of the vehicle that Baker left in was a white man in his early 20s with a beard and short hair, she said.
