Fire investigated State police fire marshals are investigating a suspicious fire that destroyed a house on Dupont Village Road in Georges Township early Sunday morning.

Volunteer firefighters from Fairchance, Collier, Haydentown and Smithfield were dispatched at 2:53 a.m. Fairchance EMS also responded to the alarm.

“When I got there, the roof was already burned off,” Fairchance Fire Chief Raymond Eicher said.

The fire appeared to have started in the front doorway area and appeared suspicious, he said.

He said Ted Reed Jr. owns the home, but he was not sure if anyone was living in the house. No one was home at the time of the fire, Eicher said.

A fire marshal arrived after the fire was extinguished and returned Monday, he said.

Redstone Twp.

Vehicle arson

A 1991 Ford Escort owned by Joseph Hudock of Charleroi was set on fire and completely destroyed along Simpson Road at 9:45 p.m. Sept. 15, state police said. The Allison 1 Volunteer Fire Department and Brownsville EMS responded to the fire.

Police ask anyone with information about the arson to call the station at 724-929-6262.

Two cited

Joshua Hartley and Darci Digiacomo were cited with harassment following a fight that occurred at their residence at 6:38 p.m. Monday, state police reported.

Seven minors cited

Citations were filed against Robert Rummell, 20, of Vanderbilt; Russell Riggar, 19, of Vanderbilt; Dewayne Dean, 19, of Connellsville; Kenneth Riggar, 19, of West Leisenring; Cody Rummell, 18, of Vanderbilt; a 17-year-old male from Perryopolis; and a 15-year-old male from Vanderbilt after they were found drinking at a party at a Railroad Street residence at 1:47 a.m. Sunday, state police said.

The charges were filed at Magisterial District Judge Michael Rubish’s office.

Uniontown

Charges pending

City police said they found suspected crack cocaine in a piece of folded paper in a vehicle following a traffic stop Tuesday at 1:45 a.m. on East Main Street. Police said charges against the driver are pending lab test results on the suspected drug.

Jefferson

Bomb threat

State police said Jefferson-Morgan High School was evacuated and classes were dismissed at 2:13 p.m. Monday after a student discovered suspicious writing on a bathroom wall that was considered to be a bomb threat against the school. The school was searched with an explosives detection dog, but no bomb was found. The incident remains under investigation.

Cumberland Twp.

Home break-in

A home on Petain Street in Nemacolin owned by John Tony Dibiase III was broken into at 3:45 a.m. Sept. 14, state police said. Batteries were removed from all smoke detectors inside and the oven and burners were turned on in an attempt to burn the house, police said. The kitchen faucets were turned on. The water caused extensive damage to the floors and carpet, police said. The house also was ransacked. Police ask anybody with information about the break-in to call the station at 724-627-6151.

Trespassing reported

State police said Michelle Swank reported that a man entered her Brown Street apartment through an unlocked back door at 4:55 p.m. Tuesday and was in her kitchen when she walked in and saw him. He fled when he saw her, police said. She was not injured and nothing was reported stolen or damaged. The suspect was described as white, in his late teens to early 20s, about 6 feet 3 inches tall, with an average build, short, brown hair and was clean-shaven. He was wearing a dark blue shirt and blue jeans.

Perryopolis

Four vehicles stolen

A 1990 Ford Ranger, 1989 Chevrolet Blazer, 1988 Ford Aerostar and a 1991 Chevrolet Astrovan owned by Darwin W. James of Louisa, Ky., were stolen from the Perryopolis Auto Auction between Aug. 1 and Sept. 16, state police said. Police ask anyone with information about the thefts to call the station at 724-929-6262.

Auto theft arrests

James H. King, 18, of Connellsville and Douglas A. Williams, 19, of Mount Pleasant were charged with theft, receiving stolen property, conspiracy and other charges for allegedly stealing a car owned by Jennifer Eiford of Normalville on Aug. 26, state police said.

Thefts from vehicles

State police at Waynesburg said tailgates were stolen from three pickup trucks and a car stereo was stolen from another vehicle at Walt’s Auto Clinic’s parking lot between 5:20 p.m. Sept. 14 and 7:40 a.m. Sept. 15. The victims were Mark Fox of Waynesburg, Hubert Petrie of Mount Morris, Tracey Stewart of Sycamore and John Fox of Carmichaels. Police ask anyone with information about the thefts to call the station at 724-627-6151.

Home burglarized

A home on Taylortown Road owned by Timothy J. Boryk of Dellslow, W.Va., was entered through a window between Sept. 16 and 18. Stolen were a pair of stereo speakers, a DVD player, subwoofer, stereo receiver, desktop computer, power washer, chain saw and a jar filled with change were stolen, state police said.

North Union Twp.

Gun incident

State police said Edward Payson reported that he pulled out from the driveway of his Brushwood Road home to stop a gray Ford Mustang that was speeding down the street at 4:50 p.m. Tuesday. He told police that he then approached the car and noticed that the driver had a stainless steel revolver on his lap. The driver then fled south on Center Avenue. The driver was described as a black male, 30 to 40 years old, with a mustache. The incident is under investigation.

Centerville

Theft charged

Theft charges were filed against Raymond Moore, 46, of Brownsville for allegedly stealing aluminum from a residence in the Vesta 7 area, borough police said.

The charges were filed at Magisterial District Judge William Pelkey’s office.

Theft reported

State police said a television, two speakers, a stereo receiver and a video game player were stolen from Patricia Wachinski’s shed on Ball Hill Road between 3 p.m. Monday and 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Bullskin Twp.

Damage reported

Windows were broken and shingles on a roof were destroyed at 240 W. Pennsville St. between Sept. 6 and 20, state police said. The victim is Randy Wayne Thayer of Bullskin Township.

South Union Twp.

Bad checks written

State police said someone tried used two Visa traveler’s checks to obtain money orders at the Sheetz convenience store on New Salem Road at 3 a.m. Wednesday, but fled while the checks were being verified. The suspect was described as a white male with brown hair and a mustache. He was wearing a black T-shirt, blue jeans and a white ball cap with the number 7 on it. He fled in a new model silver sedan with a tinted sunroof. Police ask anyone with information about the incident to call the station at 724-439-7111.

Georges Twp.

Citations filed

Citations for fleeing police, five stop sign violations and five turn signal violations were filed against Thomas Allen Drake of Smithfield for allegedly fleeing from police on Route 119 south near the Karyln Motel on Aug. 30, state police said.
