Thomas S. “Rook” Konieczny, age 85, of Mount Pleasant Road, Mount Pleasant, Pa., World War II United States Army veteran (29th Division), retired coal miner from Eastern Associates Coal Company, Hunker, Pa., and the former Bortz Company in Tarrs, Pa., who was born in Everson, Pa., died early Saturday morning, September 24, 2005, in Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg, Pa. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Anna F. Ondich Konieczny, whom he married March 29, 1947; children: Col. Carol A. Brown and her husband Larry G., of McMinnville, Oregon, Mary Lou Konieczny of Mount Pleasant, Pa., Thomas A. Konieczny and his wife, Patricia A., of Everson, Pa., and Mark A. Konieczny of Mount Pleasant, Pa.; grandchildren: Kelly Jean Steber, CPT Larry G. Brown Jr., John David Brown and Elizabeth A. Konieczny; and one great grandson. Thomas was the last survivor of his immediate family.

Family will greet friends in the Frank Kapr Funeral Home Inc., 417 West Pittsburgh Street, Scottdale, Pa., on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday, September 28, until 9:30 a.m.
