Gasoline stolen

State police said someone stole $20 worth of gasoline from the Honey Bear gas station on Route 31 Friday at 4 a.m.

Woman arrested

Carla Weimer of Connellsville was taken into custody Friday at 6:16 p.m. after a background check showed she was wanted on a Fayette County bench warrant, city police said, noting that officers came into contact with Weimer while responding to a trespass complaint at 78 Lemon St.

Juvenile charged

City police said a 16-year-old Uniontown boy was charged with public drunkenness and similar misconduct after his father called police Friday at 8:21 p.m. and reported that his son came home under the influence of a substance.

Man assaulted

Jerry Godines, no address available, told city police at 6:45 p.m. Saturday that he was assaulted at the corner of Searight Avenue and Dunlap Street, but said he did not want to press charges.

Shots heard

City police said an officer, while on routine patrol, heard gunshots coming from the area of East Fayette Street at 2:01 a.m. Sunday. Witnesses told police an unknown person fired five to six shots and fled in a white Ford Explorer. Police said no one was hurt and said officers were unable to locate the vehicle. Three shell casings were recovered from the scene, police said.

Man injured

City police said Glenn Edward Guthrie III of McClellandtown sustained injures and was taken by ambulance to Uniontown Hospital after the vehicle he was operating collided with a utility pole on West Fayette Street at 2:55 a.m. Sunday.

Woman cited

City police said Christine Criswell, 34, of 45 Wayne St. was cited for disorderly conduct after an incident occurred at 54 North St. at 1:15 p.m. Sunday.

Charges pending

City police said charges are pending against a Uniontown juvenile a city officer allegedly saw in possession of what appeared to be marijuana Saturday at 9:53 p.m. Police said the substance was sent to the state police crime lab to be tested.

Hit-and-run probed

State police said hit-and-run charges will be filed against the driver of a vehicle that allegedly struck the 1987 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera driven by Daniel H. Kaefer, 41, at the Route 119 and Monarch Road intersection at 5:05 p.m. Saturday, causing moderate damage to Kaefer’s vehicle.

North Union Twp.

Lumber stolen

State police said someone stole about $1,500 in lumber from 84 Lumber in Uniontown sometime between 6:30 p.m. Tuesday and 7:30 a.m. Wednesday. The culprits gained entry into the lumberyard by cutting a chain link fence at the north side of the store, police said.

Two charged

A 45-year-old Connellsville man and a 28-year-old West Virginia woman were charged with retail theft after they allegedly attempted to steal a DVD player and remote from the electronics department at the Connellsville Super Wal-Mart at 4:45 p.m. Sept. 16, said state police in Uniontown.

State police charged Robert J. Zemartis of Connellsville with robbery, simple assault, retail theft, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and conspiracy to commit retail theft and Shannon A. Stallard of Masontown, W.Va., with retail theft and conspiracy to commit retail theft.

Police allege that Zemartis concealed a DVD player in his pants and Stallard concealed the remote to the player in her purse. Both exited the store, setting off the alarm, police said.

Wal-Mart employees detained Stallard in the parking lot, while in the store, Zemartis caused a minor injury to Wal-Mart employee Katrina Jaquay when she attempted to detain him, police said. Zemartis fled the scene on foot, but was taken into custody by police a short time later.

Zemartis and Stallard were arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Wendy D. Dennis and are both in the Fayette County Prison after failing to pay bond of $25,000 and $5,000, respectively.

Man accused

State police said a 43-year-old Mill Run man is accused of attempting to use his vehicle to strike a vehicle Lori Beth Hensley, 24, of Mill Run and a 7-year-old Mill Run boy were sitting in at the intersection of Miller Road and Route 381 at 4:15 p.m. Friday.

Woman cited

Candra Danielle Burkes, 29, of Masontown was cited for criminal mischief and harassment after she allegedly damaged the vehicle of Carrie Ann Billig, 23, of California and pushed Billig against the vehicle along 5th Street in the village of Filbert at 2:30 a.m. Saturday, state police said.

Gravel thrown

Two vehicles were damaged by gravel someone threw from the Dixon Boulevard overpass at 8:30 p.m. Friday, state police said. The gravel struck two vehicles driven by southbound traveling motorists, Robert S. Michelucci, 31, of Slovan and Joshua A. Cree-Ciaramella, 22, of Grays Landing, police said. The gravel broke the windshield of Cree-Ciaramella’s 1997 Nissan 300ZX and caused minor scratches on the trailer pulled by a 1996 Ford F-150 that Michelucci operated.

Minor injuries reported

Sean Tringes, 26, of Waltersburg and Mary Poling, 43, of Waltersburg suffered minor injuries when their vehicles struck along Bolden Road at 2:10 p.m. Sunday, said state police. Both cars sustained severe damage from the accident, police said.

Man jailed

Ronald Smith, 26, of Smithfield was placed in the Fayette County Prison on a $25,000 straight bond for allegedly assaulting Tiffany Duritsky, 22, of Smithfield on 3rd Street in Jarrett’s Trailer Park at 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, state police said.

Two cited

Eric Holcomb, 25, and Shanna Spence, 18, both of Brownsville, were cited for criminal mischief after they allegedly intentionally damaged one another’s vehicle at Hunters Ridge Apartments at 2 p.m. Saturday, state police said.

Burglary reported

Someone stole silver Liberty dollars, a microwave, a silver Panasonic DVD player and a fishing pole from the 314 Stewarton Road residence of Jay Scott Stewart sometime between midnight on Aug. 25 and 7:30 p.m. Friday, state police said.

North Union Twp.

Dog shot, man charged

State police charged James Smeltzer, 38, of Lemont Furnace with animal cruelty and criminal mischief after he allegedly shot a black Rottweiler belonging to Rhonda Smeltzer, 29, of Lemont Furnace. Police said the dog is in fair condition and is at home. Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call state police in Uniontown at 724-439-7111.

South Connellsville

Man cited

James Marion Jr., 33, of Uniontown was cited for harassment after he allegedly called Kelly Armstrong, 29, of Connellsville several times at her 1530 Hyndman St. residence at 3:30 p.m. Friday, said state police.

Stolen vehicle recovered

State police recovered a 1994 Nissan Sentra stolen from the Wal-Mart in Mount Pleasant Sept. 3 on a quad trail about 1/8 of a mile off Breakneck Road. Police said the vehicle belongs to Joseph Shawley, 30, of Mount Pleasant. Anyone with information concerning the incident is asked to call state police in Uniontown at 724-439-7111.

Springhill Twp.

Two treated

A 2-year-old boy, passenger in the 1990 Dodge Dynasty, and driver of the vehicle, Michael J. Schreckengost, 23, of Smithfield, were taken to Uniontown Hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in a two-vehicle accident on Springhill Furnace Road at 3:17 p.m. Friday, state police said. Schreckengost’s vehicle and a 1999 Peterbilt Triaxle truck were involved in the incident, police said.

Not wearing seatbelts were both Schreckengost and the 2-year-old boy, who was in a safety seat, police said. The operator of the triaxle truck, Scott E. Platter, 32, of Connellsville, was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured, according to police.

South Union Twp.

No one injured

Neither Jackson Stark, 30, of Hopwood nor Charles Young, 49, of Uniontown were injured in a two-vehicle accident on Route 40 near Sheetz at 11:12 a.m. Saturday, state police said. West Leisenring Volunteer Fire Department assisted police at the scene.
