Irene M. Shawley
Irene M. Shawley, 78, of North Belle Vernon, Pa., died Saturday, Sept. 24, 2005, in Lafayette Manor, Uniontown. She was the daughter of the late Milfred and Ruby Tustin Jones and she was born in Monessen, Pa., on Aug. 30, 1927.
A lifelong resident of Belle Vernon, she was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Shawley was a former employee of the Montgomery Ward Store in Charleroi, and the Grants Department Store in Belle Vernon.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Dale Turis of Perry Township; a son and daughter-in-law, Roland E. and Janet Shawley Jr., of Belle Vernon; a sister, Ruth Rosborough of Donora; a brother, Milfred “Bud” Jones of the state of Florida; and five grandchildren, Scott Shawley and his wife, Melissa, Jason Shawley and his wife, Emily, Nicole Winterbottom and her husband, Shuan and Jennifer Turis and Dan Turis and his wife, Leslie.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roland E. Shawley Sr., on May 22, 2001, and a brother, Ronald Jones.
Friends will be received today from 7 to 9 p.m., and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., in the FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME, INC., AND CREMATION SERVICE, A Golden Rule Member Firm, 724-929-5300, 700 Broad Avenue, Belle Vernon, where funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m., with the Rev. David Zona officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
