Window broken Anna Veres of 9 Playford Ave., Brownsville, told borough police that someone smashed the side passenger window out of her car about 3 p.m. Saturday. The vandalism was reported about 4:30 p.m. Veres told police she hadn’t seen anyone in the area around the time the window was smashed.

The Fayette County SPCA was called by Brownsville police to remove two turtles, a frog and a dead cat from 150 Jackson St. The animals were removed at 4:53 p.m. Saturday.

Mailbox damaged
Brownsville police said a U.S. Postal Service mailbox was overturned near 334 Pearl St. about 5:46 p.m. Saturday. According to a witness, about 10 youths pushed the mailbox over. Two witnesses turned the box upright.
The Postal Service was notified of the incident.

Attempted break-in
Brownsville police were called to the intersection of Cadwallader and Angle streets for a complaint that a juvenile was attempting to break into an apartment building. Police said numerous juveniles ran from the scene as police arrived.

Juvenile complaint
Brownsville police received two calls to the 300 block of Pearl St. shortly before 11 p.m. Saturday reporting six or seven youths causing problems in the area. The callers told police the youths were walking up and down the street throwing rocks at houses and yelling profanities. No damage was reported.

Truck stolen
Francis Ryan of 412 Pearl St., Brownsville, told borough police that someone stole his 1987 Mazda truck from his garage about 5:30 a.m. Sunday. The truck is brown with a cream-colored cap and ladder racks on it.

Purse stolen
Christy Brady, 31, of Hiller, told Brownsville police that someone took her purse from her car while she was inside the A-Plus convenience store on High Street. The theft was reported at 1:51 p.m. Saturday.

State police said money and several packs of cigarettes were stolen from the Jackson Farms Store on Route 40 at 3:55 a.m. Monday.

Wheels stolen
State police said all four wheels and the spare were removed from a vehicle owned by Clyde Lewis of Waltersburg along Bridge Street between 6:30 and 11:30 p.m. Sunday. The vehicle was left sitting on concrete blocks. The incident is under investigation.

Man charged
Michael Torrence, 33, of Dawson charged with simple assault following a domestic incident involving Karri Koast of Connellsville on Boyd Avenue Monday at 10 a.m., state police said. He was arraigned and released on $25,000 unsecured bond.

Man cited
Jeffrey Guynn, 36, of Uniontown was cited with harassment for allegedly slapping Sandy Cleaver of Uniontown in the face Monday at 12:20 a.m. at 1121 Charles Lane, state police said.

Driver cited
Timothy R. Jobes, 24, of Smithfield was cited for speeding after he lost control of his car on Mud Pike Road at 8:20 p.m. Sunday and hit a utility pole, state police said. His car was severely damaged. No injuries were reported.

Vehicle accident
City police said David Britt, 34, of 312 Main St., Dawson, hit a parked car owned by Elmer Mosako at 39 Millview St. at 6:30 p.m. Sunday. His vehicle had moderate damage and Mosako’s car was severely damaged, police said. Britt had a passenger. No injuries were reported.

Man arrested
Von Hilton Weygandt II, 24, of Uniontown was arrested on drug charges, criminal trespass, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness charges following an incident in Woodview Terrace and then charged with aggravated assault and other charges for allegedly fighting with and spitting on state troopers after he was in custody at 1:25 a.m. Sunday, state police said. Weygandt tried several times to escape from his handcuffs, fight with officers and twice spat in officers faces, claiming he had HIV at the barracks, police said. Along with three counts of aggravated assault, he was charged with three counts of simple assault, resisting arrest, three counts of harassment and disorderly conduct. Weygandt was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Ronald Haggerty and placed in the county prison in lieu of a combined $75,000 bond.
