Charles A. Nicolas, 77, of Uniontown, Pa., passed away Monday, September 26, 2005, in the Uniontown Hospital, Uniontown, Pa. He was born on May 17, 1928, in Cheat Neck, W.Va., the son of the late John W. and Bessie Lewellyn Nicholas.

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by a daughter, Debbie Barton, a brother, Albert Nicholas and two sisters, Ruth Justillo and Doris Grashion.

Surviving are his wife of 35 years, Carol (Hornbeck) Nicholas, three children: Beth Yauger and fianc? Mike Ross of Dunbar, Pa., Cindy Myers and husband, Alan of Smithfield, Pa., Al Nicholas and wife, Eve Ann of Smithfield; six grandchildren: Devon Cody Yaugher, Matt Myers, Brooke Kirchbaum and husband, Bill, Heather Nicholas, Mykal Nicholas and wife, Charlotte, Bill Barton III and wife, Stephanie; three great grandchildren: Ryan Nicholas, Billy Barton IV and Chloe Kirchbaum; one sister, Margaret Umble of Grafton, W.Va.; an aunt, Jenny Kisner and husband, Arley of Cheat Neck, W.Va.; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mr. Nicholas was retired from Allegheny Energy with 42 years of service and had also worked for Gulf Oil Company in Morgantown, W.Va., Ohio and Illinois. He was a graduate of Georges High School, class of 1946. He was a veteran serving in the United States Air force. He held membership in Hutchinson Sportsman’s Club and was an avid hunter and fisherman.

Friends will be received in the DONALD R. CRAWFORD FUNERAL HOME, Hopwood, Pa., on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and on Friday, September 30, 2005, until 11 a.m. the hour of service with the Rev. George McLaughlin officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society of the American Heart Association.
