Daniel R. Caldwell, Jr., 82, of Uniontown, Pa., died on Sunday, September 25, 2005. He was born on May 20, 1923, in Republic, Pa., son of Daniel R. Caldwell, Sr. and Mary M. (Fry) Caldwell.

His parents, and brothers Leo Caldwell and Donald Caldwell preceded him in death.

Mr. Caldwell was a graduate of Redstone High School. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the United States Army Air Corps in the Pacific Theater of Operations. He was retired after 30 years as a civil service employee with the United States Air Force.

Mr. Caldwell was also a member of the S.P.E.B.S.Q.S.A. (Barbershoppers) Greater Uniontown Area Chapter.

He is survived by his wife, Jean (Williams) Caldwell; and his children: James T. Caldwell and wife, Diana, Beverly J. Caldwell, Daniel L. Caldwell and wife, Colleen; grandchildren: Wendy (Caldwell) Gensimore and husband, Gary, Brenda (Caldwell) Phillips and husband, George, Daniel Schneider, Kelly Schneider, John Caldwell, Sarah Caldwell and Daniel Caldwell; great grandchildren: Justin Gensimore, Emma Gensimore and Alex Gensimore and a brother, Lytle “Pete” Caldwell and wife, Kathryn.

Friends will be received in the STEPHEN R. HAKY FUNERAL HOME INC, AT SYLVAN HEIGHTS CEMETERY, A Dignity Memorial Provider, 603 North Gallatin Avenue Extension, Uniontown, Pa., on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and on Thursday, September 29, 2005 until 1 p.m. the hour of service in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Peter Malik officiating. Entombment will follow at Sylvan Heights Chapel of Memories Mausoleum.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made in his memory to the New Salem Presbyterian Church.
