Man waives hearing for ramming police car
BULLSKIN TWP. – A Virginia man charged with leading local and state police on a chase through two municipalities and crashing into a Connellsville City patrol car, waived the matter to court Tuesday in a tentative plea agreement reached with the county district attorney’s office. Brian Edward Moore Jr., 19, who lists his address as a Naval Amphibious Base in Virginia Beach, will spend an unspecified time under house arrest for his guilty plea to the numerous charges filed by state police, said Jason Adams, Fayette County assistant district attorney, pending approval by the Fayette County Court of Common Pleas.
Moore was scheduled to appear before Magisterial District Judge Robert Breakiron, but entered into the agreement prior to the preliminary hearing in the matter.
He is charged with a single felony count of aggravated assault, three misdemeanor counts of reckless endangerment, two misdemeanor counts of criminal mischief, single misdemeanor counts of fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer and disorderly conduct and eight single summary offenses stemming from the Sept. 24 incident.
According to the criminal complaint, a state police trooper stopped Moore’s vehicle along Route 119 and Moyer Road in Bullskin Township because the right taillight did not function and the license plate was not properly affixed to his vehicle.
When the officer exited his patrol car, Moore then fled south along Route 119 to the City of Connellsville.
He was pursued for nearly 20 minutes by state and local police, according to the filed criminal complaint.
According to police, the chase ended at the Crawford Avenue bridge when Moore struck a lamppost after first hitting the Connellsville patrol car.
