Melvin L. Wilson, 80, of Fairchance, Pa., passed on to his loving Lord and Savior after a long and lengthy illness on Monday, September 26, 2005, in his home surrounded by his loving wife and family. He was born April 26, 1925, in Fairchance, Pa., the son of Jesse L. Wilson and Matilda Mitchell Wilson.

Melvin was a retired United States postal carrier and a caring compassionate friend to all. He loved to watch football and let them know what they did wrong.

He was a member of the Fairchance Church of the Brethren where he served as a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher and committee board member throughout his lifetime. Melvin believed in living his life for the Lord and he did so with such magnitude.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Wallace Wilson, Cpl. Alfred L. Wilson, Curtis Wilson and two sisters, Myrtle Cunningham and Jean Beatty.

He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Lillie Bowlen Wilson of Fairchance, Pa.; a daughter, Susan Wilson-McClung and her husband, Larry W. McClung of Uniontown, Pa.; two sons: Daniel Wilson and his wife, Ginny Ramsey Wilson of Smithfield, Pa. and Scott “Beefy” Wilson and his wife, Joanne Wolinski Wilson of Uniontown, Pa.; six grandchildren: Kristy Walker of Hopwood, Pa., Matthew Wilson and his wife, Alice Cooper Wilson of Hopwood, Pa., Jason Wilson and Ryan Wilson of Smithfield, Kyle Wilson and Jonathan Wilson, of Uniontown, Pa. and a grandson-in-law, Jason Walker of Uniontown; two great grandchildren, Julia Lillie Walker and Hunter Walker of Hopwood; two brothers: Harold Wilson of Denver, Colo., and Lloyd Wilson and his wife, Verlaine of Connellsville, Pa. and three sisters: Mary Roming of Largo, Fla., Bernice Kneff and her husband, Jim of Venetia, Pa. and Ellen Cunningham of Fairchance, Pa.

Friends will be received in the GOLDSBORO-TOMI FUNERAL HOME, 21 East Church Street, Fairchance, Pa., this evening from 7 to 9 p.m., on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and on Friday, September 30, 2005 until 11 a.m., the hour of service with the Rev. Rory Ruder officiating. Interment will follow in Lafayette Memorial Park, Brier Hill, Pa.

His was a life that touched many and will always be remembered in our hearts.
