Michael J. Tupta, Sr.

Michael J. Tupta, Sr., 93, of Greensburg, Pa., formerly of Uniontown, Pa., died on Sunday, September 25, 2005, in Weatherwood Manor, Greensburg, Pa. He was born on September 28, 1911, in Dunbar, Pa., son of Andrew and Dora (Olenicek) Tupta.

His parents, wife, Dorothy Louise (Chernitsky) Tupta, brothers, Andrew and Frank Tupta and sister Mary Tupta, preceded him in death.

Michael was a member of Saint Mary’s (Nativity) Roman Catholic Church for over 40 years, served with the United States Army during World War II and was a member of the American Legion Post 51 and was also a member of First Catholic Solvak Union. He retired from the Social Security Administration after 42 years as a Claims Examiner.

He was a graduate of Dunbar Township High School where he was a star basketball player. He also enjoyed gardening, especially growing tomatoes.

Michael always appreciated and acknowledged the kindnesses of others and was a respectful and considerate gentleman and wonderful father and grandfather.

Left to cherish his memory are four children: Louise T. Veselicky, DDS and husband, Ken A. Veselicky, MD of Morgantown, W.Va., Rosemary T. Hydeman, DMD and husband, Jeff E. Hydeman of Murrysville, Pa., Dorothy T. Ridinger and husband, John C. Ridinger, DMD of Greensburg, Pa., and Michael J. Tupta, Jr., DDS and wife Jean Tupta, DDS of Charleston, W.Va.; ten grandchildren: Kathryn, Kelly, Christin, Laura, Allison, Mary, Natalie, John Paul, Michael J. III and Clare; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received in the STEPHEN R. HAKY FUNERAL HOME INC., AT SYLVAN HEIGHTS CEMETERY, A Dignity Memorial Provider, 603 North Gallatin Avenue Extension, Uniontown, Pa., this evening from 7 to 9 p.m., Thursday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. and on Friday, September 30, 2005 until 10:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow in Saint Mary’s (Nativity) Roman Catholic Church at 11 a.m. with his nephew, the Rev. Father Mark Hudak, OFM as Celebrant.

Interment will follow in Saint John Evangelical Cemetery, Brookvale, Pa., where Military Honors will be accorded by American Legion Post 51.
