Thomas E. Starkey, 45, of Millsboro, Pa., passed away Monday, September 26, 2005, as the result of a boat accident on the Monongahela River in Greene County on September 25, 2005. He was born in Waynesburg, Pa., on March 5, 1960, the son of James F. and Alverda (Giles) Starkey Sr., of Millsboro, Pa. He was an accomplished carpenter and was a long-time partner of Starkey Construction in Millsboro. He was a long time caretaker for his family and a member of Saint Michael’s Catholic Church of Saint Oliver Plunkett Parish, Fredericktown, Pa.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by two daughters: Cassandra and Samantha Starkey, both at home; brothers: James Starkey Jr. and wife, Tina of Millsboro, Tim Starkey and wife, Lena of Roundlake, Ill., Mike Starkey and wife, Vickie of Millsboro; sisters: Cathy Paes of Beallsville, Pa., Donna Wilson and husband, Robert of Fredericktown, Pa.

He was an avid runner and bicyclist and was a former member of East Bethlehem Township Volunteer Firemen in Fredericktown.

Friends will be received in the FRANK BURKUS FUNERAL HOME, 26 Mill Street, Millsboro, Pa., today from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Thursday from 1 to 9 p.m.

A Blessing Service will be held in the funeral home on Friday, September 30, 2005, at 10 a.m. with Deacon Tom Raymond, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in Saint Michaels Church with the Rev. Paul E. Gruneback officiating. Interment will follow in Scenery Hill Cemetery, Scenery Hill, Pa.

A Parish Vigil will be held in the funeral home with Deacon Tom Raymond at 8 p.m. on Thursday, September 29, 2005.
