BPW and Herald-Standard earn state awards

The Uniontown Business and Professional Women publicity chairman, Elva Downs, (second from left) and the Herald-Standard newspaper, were presented the top award at the BPW state convention held at the William Penn Hotel in Pittsburgh. The award was for the contest period from April 1, 2004, through March 31. The award was presented for the best local organization coverage for the entire contest period by a newspaper. Taking part in the presentation were, (from left) Bea Glover, club president; Downs; Carol Kekela, Society reporter at the Herald-Standard; and Mark O’Keefe, executive editor.
