Local salon joins haircut fund-raiser
CONNELLSVILLE – The SmartStyle Family Salon, located inside the Connellsville Wal-Mart, will join efforts with Regis Salons across America to offer discounted haircuts for the Clip for the Cure fund-raiser. According to Dale Chess, manager, the stylist at the local salon will donate their time and talent on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. to support the cause.
This annual event, which takes place during Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, has raised more than $4.5 million for breast cancer research and education, said officials.
Additionally, the Regis Foundation for Breast Cancer Research provides support to further efforts toward early diagnosis, prevention, treatment and a cure.
According to officials, the Regis Foundation has made an agreement with the National Breast Cancer Coalition Fund to support the National Breast Cancer Coalition Fund Strategic Consensus Conference. This conference will bring together researchers from all over the world to debate the current long-standing paradigms and establish new models for improved clinical trials to end breast cancer.
In addition, the Regis foundation supports trials at the University of Minnesota Cancer Center and the Mayo Clinic.
Chess said that the cost of the haircuts will be $10 and the money will be used to support this endeavor.
