Thelma L. (Moats) Franks
Thelma L. (Moats) Franks, 89, of Collier, Pa., passed away on Monday, April 3, 2006, in Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, West Virginia. She was born April 8, 1916, in Haydentown, Pa., daughter of Thomas Jefferson Moats and Rosetta May Sprouwl Moats.
Her parents, her husband, George Mervin Franks Sr., two sons, Steven and George M. Jr., a granddaughter, Natascha Franks and a grandson, Jack D. Shaffer Jr, preceded her in death.
Mrs. Franks was a past member of the VFW Post 47 of Uniontown, Pa. and the General George C. Marshall AMVETS Post 103, Ladies Auxiliary of Hopwood.
She is survived by these children: Deloris Balsinger of Smock, Pa., Charlotte Sutton of Fairchance, Pa., Virginia Welch and husband, Robert of York Run, Pa., Douglas D. Franks and wife, Marianne of Ludowici, Georgia, Helen Tressler and husband, Thomas of Jacksonville, Florida, Mervin T. Franks and wife, Maxine of Smithton, Pa. and T. Elaine Messenger and husband, Jeffrey of Collier, Pa. Also surviving are numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Family and friends will be received in the H. DAVID McELROY FUNERAL HOME, 803 Main Street, McClellandtown, Pa., tonight from 7 to 9 p.m., Thursday, April 6, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday, April 7 until 1 p.m., the hour of service.
Interment will follow in Jacobs Ev. Lutheran Cemetery.
