Cove Run church to host gospel music veterans
Cove Run Free Methodist Church, 345 Yauger Hollow Road, Lemont Furnace, will host Crossroads recording artists Tim and Mary Alice Lovelace on Sunday, April 9 at 6 p.m. The Lovelaces have traveled in gospel music for several years. Before working as husband and wife, Lovelace traveled with the Florida Boys, Kingsmen and Jake Hess and Mrs. Lovelace was a soloist and then worked for many years with the Royalaires.
With a wide range of comedic, instrumental and vocal talent, this unique couple incorporates piano, guitar, harmonica, mandolin, banjo and dobro. Their ministry has taken them all over the United States and Canada and to Scotland, Ireland, England and Central America. In addition, they have been a part of the Gaither Homecoming videos and appear regularly on the Gospel Music Television Network.
Lovelace is an award-winning songwriter and has written for groups such as The Cathedrals, Gold City, Doug Oldham, Ivan Parker, Karen Peck and New River, Speers, John Starnes, The Kingdom Heirs and Brian Free. He has also had several songs recorded on the Gaither Video Series. They received the prestigious BMI songwriting and publishing award for their single “Getcha to the Other Side’ recorded by The Kingsmen. Their awards and nominations include Grammy nominee, Dove Award nominee, Diamond Award Songwriter of Florida Boys, Gospel Music Association Hall of Fame inductee with The Kingsmen and BMI Songwriting and Publishing Award.
The Lovelaces are known for their comedy. In fact, Lovelace describes them as Princess Grace and Barney Fife. Lovelace was featured on “Joy in the Camp’ and Homecoming Bloopers Gaither videos doing a zany comedy rendition called “The Fourth Man in the Fire.’ Their current comedy video, “Laughin’ with the Lovelaces’ has been an instant hit across America.
