Bakewell-Corrigan

Diana Kathleen Corrigan and Richard Aaron Bakewell, both of Bloomington, Ind., were married Aug. 21 in Atlanta, Ga. Parents of the bride are J. Alan and Peggy Corrigan of Kennesaw, Ga. The bridegroom is the son of Edward and Rita Bakewell of Brownsville.

The ceremony and reception were held at the Grand Ballroom of the Fox Theatre in downtown Atlanta. Judge Ralph Merk officiated.

The couple spent their honeymoon in Tamarindo, Costa Rica.

Maid of honor was Maura Corrigan of Brooklyn, N.Y., sister of the bride. Bridesmaids were Alicia Reed of Marietta, Ga., and Richelle Southwick of Atlanta, Ga.

Best man was David Hoffman of New York, N.Y. Groomsman was William Tornabene of Richmond, Va.

Ushers were Sean Corrigan of Philadelphia, brother of the bride, and J. Alan Crittenden of Pittsburgh, brother-in-law of the bridegroom.

Flower girls were Victoria Crittenden of Pittsburgh, niece of the groom, and Shelby Reed of Marietta, Ga. Ring bearer was Elizabeth Crittenden of Pittsburgh, niece of the bridegroom.

The bride is a graduate of Sprayberry High School in Marietta, Ga. She received a bachelor of science degree in psychology from the University of Georgia and a master’s degree in industrial organizational psychology from Virginia Tech. She is currently employed as development director of the Bloomington Area Arts Council in Bloomington, Ind.

The bridegroom is a 1993 graduate of Brownsville Area High School. He received a bachelor of science degree in biology from Hampden-Sydney College in Hampden-Sydney, Va. He will receive a MPA-MA degree in public environmental affairs and Russian and East European Area studies from Indiana University, Bloomington, Ind., in May.

The couple met while serving as Peace Corps volunteers in Bulgaria from 2001-2003. After taking a cross-country road trip in June, the couple will reside in Washington, D.C., starting in July where the groom has accepted a position as a foreign policy analyst with the Government Accountability Office.
