Harry R. Highburger, age 78, of Brownsville, Pa., died Monday, April 10, 2006, in the Uniontown Hospital, Uniontown, Pa. He was born on October 25, 1927, in Allison, Pa., the son of Raymond E. Highburger and Anna E. Levick Highburger.

Mr. Highburger attended Brownsville High School, Brownsville, Pa.

He served in the United States Air Force during World War II.

Mr. Highburger worked for 34 years for Bell Telephone of Pennsylvania and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers.

He was predeceased by his parents, a brother, James Highburger, a sister, Rita Fleming, and a son-in-law, Thomas W. Shanaberg.

Mr. Highburger is survived by his wife of 55 years, Norma J. Highburger; three children: Gloria H. Shanaberg of Granville, Ohio, William L Highburger of Latrobe, Pa., and Jeri A. Stagesin and her husband John of Allison, Pa.; five grandchildren: Travis R. Shanaberg and wife Jennifer, Ty W. Shanaberg, Joel I. Stagesin, Craig E. Stagesin and Eric W. Highburger; and many devoted friends.

At the request of the deceased, there will be no public visitation.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the SKIRPAN FUNERAL HOME, Brownsville, Pa.
