Brownsville man dies in one-car accident
BROWNSVILLE – A one-car accident early Monday morning took the life of a Brownsville-area man. Robert Shumar Jr., 46, of Grindstone was killed when his car traveling at a high rate of speed hit a concrete embankment at the underpass of a railroad tressel on Albany Road in Brownsville, according to a Fayette County Coroner spokeswoman.
John Duke, deputy coroner, pronounced the man dead at the scene at 3:35 a.m. The cause of death, pending toxicology results, was blunt force trauma to the head and face with lower extremity fractures, he said.
Toxicology results could take up to two months, the spokeswoman said.
Brownsville Police Department responded to the 3:22 a.m. call and did not leave the scene until 7 a.m., interim Chief Stanley Jablonsky said.
