Baby burnt A spokesman for Washington County 911 said that a 7-month-old baby was flown to Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh after a vaporizer containing hot water fell on the child. The incident occurred at a Second Street residence at 8:15 p.m. Tuesday, the spokesman said, noting that Brownsville Ambulance responded to the scene. No other information was available.

Award offered
Borough police said a substantial award is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person who stole several Herald-Standard newspapers and inserted a slanderous flyer about a Masontown woman before distributing them throughout the community early Tuesday morning.

State police said charges of theft and robbery are pending against a 25-year-old Carmichaels man and a 27-year-old Waynesburg man after they stole a purse from Barbara Gump at a business on Sugar Run Road at 9:30 p.m. Monday.

Investigations continue
Police are conducting investigations into the following unrelated incidents:
– An April 1 theft when a Bostitch nail gun was removed from a truck mounted toolbox. Police said the vehicle was parked in the 200 block of South 8th Street.
– An April 1 criminal mischief when multiple vehicles parked along Robbins and Cemetery streets were struck with eggs.
– An April 4 criminal mischief when the driver of a vehicle traveling along Memorial Bridge witnessed pieces of wood being thrown at oncoming vehicles by a white male with dark hair driving a white pickup truck.

Charges filed
Police have filed charges against the following individuals in unrelated incidents:
– Johnny L. Brink, 24, of Connellsville with public drunkenness after he was allegedly found intoxicated April 1 in Gibson Terrace.
– Tarryl M. Skaggs, 30, of Smithton with trespass after he was allegedly found in a Gibson Terrace apartment April 1 without permission of the resident.
– Nicole Stokes, 26, of Connellsville with endangering the welfare of children after she allegedly left her four children, ages 10, 9, 6 and 1, unsupervised at her Gibson Terrace apartment on April 1.
– Adam Petrone, 25, of Connellsville with simple assault after he allegedly struck his mother during an April 5 incident in the 200 block of North 11th Street.
– Ann M. Cornish, 24, a 15-year-old and a 14-year-old female, all of Connellsville with disorderly conduct during an alleged April 6 incident in the 200 block of East Apple Street. Police said the teens were charged after allegedly taking part in a disturbance while Cornish was charged after she allegedly grabbed an officer during the arrest of the juveniles.

Police said a 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier owned by Errol Mossburg of Connellsville was struck Friday by an unknown vehicle while it was parked at the Hometown Diner parking lot located along Memorial Boulevard. Mossburg’s vehicle sustained minor damage to the front fender.

Police said no injuries resulted from a Saturday collision when a 1993 Dodge, driven by Robin James, 16, of Connellsville collided with a 1992 Ford Econoline driven by James W. Wiedeman, 76, of Lemont Furnace at the intersection of Snyder Street and East Fairview Avenue.

Car strikes wall
Police said Jesse Eisaman, 18, of Mill Run was not injured after he fell asleep at the wheel of his 1991 Honda and the vehicle traveled from the southbound lane of Snyder Street across the roadway and struck a concrete wall and a utility pole on Sunday. Police said the vehicle had to be towed from the scene of the accident.

Police said Melissa Johnson, 34, of South Connellsville was injured Monday during an accident along South Pittsburgh Street. Police said the accident occurred when Johnson struck the rear of a vehicle driven by Leonard Tucker, 47, of Uniontown, that was stopped awaiting turning traffic. Johnson’s 1990 Toyota had to be towed from the scene. Johnson was transported to Highlands Hospital by Fayette EMS.

Man charged
State police said Kevin Michael Johnson, 43, of Normalville, was charged Monday before Magisterial District Judge Robert Breakiron with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of firearms without a license after he was found with cocaine, two crack pipes and .22-caliber pistol on Clinton Road on Jan. 4. Johnson was placed in the Fayette County Prison on $25,000 bond, police said.
