Eugene R. Menni
Eugene R. Menni, age 92, of Uniontown, Pa., passed away Tuesday, April 11, 2006, in Beverly Health Care Center, Uniontown. He was born July 4, 1913, in Uniontown, Pa., the son of Fabrizio Menni and Philomena Russo Menni.
“Gene” was a 1931 graduate of Uniontown High School and a graduate of the Indiana Normal School (now Indiana University of Pennsylvania).
He taught in the Uniontown Area schools.
“Gene” was a member of Saint Therese de Lisieux Roman Catholic Church.
He was a veteran of World War II who served with the United States Army and was the recipient of the World War II Victory Medal, the European-African-Middle Eastern Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.
“Gene” was a self-employed painter and later worked for Sears and Roebuck, where he retired.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Lucretia Poletz Menni, and a daughter, Philomena Menni Barton.
He is survived by his wife, Lilyann Kazmiersky Menni; a granddaughter, Annette Zvermin and her husband, Chuck, of Wexford, Pa.; two grandsons: Richard Puzzo and Anthony Puzzo; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Ermina Menni Poletz of Harrisburg, Pa.; a stepson, James Passarelli of Woodstock, Maryland; a stepdaughter, Jane Passarelli of Pittsburgh, Pa.; three step grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
At his request, there will be no viewing.
A Memorial Mass will be said on Monday, April 17, 2006, at 9:30 a.m. in SAINT THERESE DE LISIEUX ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH, Mill Street, Uniontown.
Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations should be made in his name to Saint Therese Youth, c/o Marlene Bandzuch, 61 Mill Street, Uniontown PA 15401 or to a charity of your choice.
