Masontown Tom’s Computer Service opens
Tom’s Computer Service, based in Masontown, is a new business offering mobile computer maintenance to customers. Owner Tom Montalto Jr. said he started the business to show customers how to take care of their computer by using maintenance tools without having to buy expensive hardware and software.
Montalto has worked with computers for 14 years and is offering a free computer check-up to clients.
The service is operated from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Uniontown
Career Awareness Week scheduled
The third annual Career Awareness Week will be held Monday through Friday at the Fayette County CareerLink.
The schedule will kick off with an Education Fair for high school seniors on Monday and continue throughout the week with various workshops for all job seekers and college grads.
A feature of the weeklong program will be the third annual Fayette CareerLink JOBS Expo from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on May 4 in the Community Center at Penn State Fayette, The Eberly Campus.
The schedule for the upcoming week will be as follows:
– Monday, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Education Fair. Participants will include California University of Pennsylvania, CTI, Douglas Education Center, Intermediate Unit, Laurel Business Institute, Westmoreland County Community College and West Virginia Career Institute. Representatives will be available to answer any questions concerning higher education and career choices.
– Tuesday, Laurel Business Institute will present interview techniques from 11 a.m. to noon and again at 1 p.m. and career choices in western Pennsylvania at 2 p.m.
– Wednesday, California University of Pennsylvania will host a job fair from 10 a.m. to noon including dos and don’ts and one minute commercials; from 1 to 3 p.m., professional dress and resume critiquing will be held.
– Thursday, West Virginia Career Institute will present interviewing skills at 10 a.m.; mock interviews at 11 a.m. and resume critiquing from 1 to 3 p.m.
– Friday, Douglas Education Center will present preparing for a job fair, interview skills and resume critiquing from 10 a.m. to noon.
Penn State Fayette, the Eberly Campus will present connecting with employers and making the most of a job fair from 1 to 3 p.m.
Uniontown
Slampak new Abby administrator
Abby Health Care Inc. of Uniontown has announced the appointment of Constance E. Slampak to the position of administrator for the local home health care provider.
Slampak, a Uniontown native, is the daughter of Anthony and Beverly DeFazio of Hopwood and the wife of Gerald Slampak of Uniontown. The couple has two daughters, Lauren Slampak and Sara Slampak, who are both students at Washington and Jefferson College in Washington. A graduate of the Suffield Academy in Suffield, Conn., Slampak continued her education at both West Virginia University and Penn State University where she graduated with her bachelor of arts degree in child psychology.
Joining Abby Health Care in 1984, Slampak worked in conjunction with the founding owner and administrator, Beverly DeFazio, to establish the company as a contributor to the local health care community.
Slampak has held many supervisory, managerial and administrative positions with the company over her 22-year career, most recently being that of director of finance overseeing both the billing and accounting departments.

Uniontown
E-bay instruction offered
Presentations explaining how to sell items on E-bay will be held at noon and 6:30 p.m. April 27 at the Central Christian Church, 23 S. Gallatin Ave., Uniontown.
Those attending can learn how to sell and ship items through the Web site.
No reservations for the program are necessary.
The free program is being co-sponsored by the U.S. Postal Service.

Monongahela
Spartan Health names Snyder to post
Spartan Health Surgical Center in Monongahela has announced the appointment of Jamie Snyder as marketing coordinator. Spartan Health, a joint venture of various physician investors and Monongahela Valley Hospital, is the newest addition to Mon Valley’s medical community and serves as a medical office building, as well as, an outpatient surgery center.
The new building is located in Carroll Township at the former site of Mon Valley Catholic High School and less than one-half mile from Route 43. The location provides easy access for both physicians and patients throughout the Mon Valley, South Hills, and Fay-West areas.
As the marketing coordinator, Snyder will be working in the surrounding community’s to recruit physicians for the available medical office space and surgeons for the medical staff of the outpatient surgery center. Snyder is a graduate of Fairmont State University with a bachelor of science degree in marketing.
