Edward N. Rankin
Edward N. Rankin, age 85, of Uniontown, Pa., died Tuesday, April 18, 2006, in the Southwest Regional Medical Center, Waynesburg, Pa. He was born on June 30, 1920, in Cumberland Township, Pa., the son of John L. Rankin and Nora Lelia Guesman Rankin.
He served in the United States Army Corp of Engineers in New Guinea as a heavy equipment mechanic from December 1942 to November 1945.
He later worked as a mechanic for LTL Corporation in Ohio, and also drove coal trucks, and was employed as a school bus driver.
Edward was a Founding Member of Stringtown Sportsman Club.
He was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church in Uniontown, Pa.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Mary M. Rankin, a son and daughter-in-law, John E. and Susan Rankin, a son-in-law, Thomas Jaynes and sisters Dorothy Rankin and Betty R. Lindsey.
Edward is survived by his daughter, Kathleen Jaynes of North Royalton, Ohio; a son, Norman Wayne Rankin and his wife Carol of Streetsboro, Ohio; 23 grandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren; a brother, Raymond Rankin and his wife Isabelle of Carmichaels, Pa.; a sister Anna Belle Pratt of Carmichaels, Pa.; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received in the LESAKO FUNERAL HOME INC., 204 Dowlin Avenue Carmichaels, Pa., today from 7 to 9 p.m., on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and on Friday, April 21, from 12 until 1 p.m.
Services will follow at 1 p.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Roger Saunders officiating.
Interment will be in Laurel Point Cemetery, Carmichaels, Pa.
