Lillian E. Mergo Shaffer
Lillian E. Mergo Shaffer, age 74, of Uniontown, Pa., and a resident of Beverly Health Care Center, died on Monday, April 17, 2006, at the Uniontown Hospital, Uniontown, Pa. She was born on November 12, 1931, in Leith, Pa., the daughter of Alexander Mergo and Helen (Shimko) Mergo.
He was preceded in death by her parents, a son Michael Allen Shaffer, two infant daughters, Susan and Debra Shaffer, an infant brother, and brother Alexander Mergo Jr.
She was a graduate of South Union High School Class of 1951.
She was very faithful and enjoyed being involved in the activities at Beverly Center and playing Bingo.
Lillian was a member of Saint John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, Uniontown, Pa.
Left to cherish her memory are her son James Shaffer of Ohio; four grandchildren: Tina, Robert, Julie and Catlin; a sister Sylvia Mergo of Hopwood, Pa. who was her caretaker for many years; a sister-in-law Barbara Mergo of Boynton Beach, Florida; and family friend John W. Petro of Hopwood, Pa.
Friends will be received in the STEPHEN R. HAKY FUNERAL HOME, A Dignity Memorial Provider. 603 North Gallatin Avenue, Extension, Uniontown, Pa., on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Friday, April 21, until 9:30 a.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 a.m. in SAINT JOHN THE EVANGELIST ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH with the Rev Father Michael J. Crookston as Celebrant.
Private interment will follow in Saint Joseph Cemetery, Hopwood, Pa.
