Paul Stefanic
Paul Stefanic, 89, of Uniontown, Pa., passed away Tuesday, April 18, 2006 in the Uniontown Hospital He was born on July 16, 1916 in Sykesville, Pa, the son of Samuel and Julia (Rajakovic) Stefanic. He later lived in Adelaide and Bitner.
In addition to his parents, his wife, Mary (Zubovich) Stefanic on November 18, 1988, his brothers, John, Nick and Walter and sisters, Mary, Anne and Mildred Swartz preceded him in death.
He was a member of Saint John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church and was a member of the Holy Name Society.
He was a graduate of South Union High School, class of 1936 and proudly served his country in Battle during World War II with the United States Army in the invasion of France.
He was employed for United States Steel at Homestead, Pa., for many years.
He enjoyed playing the harmonica, doing jigsaw puzzles, planting flowers, feeding ducks at the pond, exercising, reading and watching soap operas.
Left with the deepest of love and fond memories are his daughter, Norma Jean Stefanic of Uniontown, Pa.; his sisters: Helen (Vilcheck) Salvo of Uniontown, Pa., Pauline Holet of Perryopolis, Pa. and Julia Swartz of Uniontown, Pa. and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Friends will be received in the STEPHEN R. HAKY FUNERAL HOME, INC., A Dignity Memorial Provider, 603 North Gallatin Avenue Extension, Uniontown, Pa., on Thursday and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and on Saturday, April 22, 2006 until 10 a.m., when a Panachida Service will be held. Divine Liturgy will follow at 10:30 a.m., in Saint John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church, with Rev. Father Thomas J. Wesdock as celebrant.
Interment will follow in the Mount Macrina Cemetery, Uniontown, Pa., where military honors will be accorded by George C. Marshall AMVETS Post 103, Hopwood, Pa.
Parastas will be held Friday evening at 7 p.m.
