Edward J. “Buster” Goletz Sr.
Edward J. “Buster” Goletz Sr., age 86, of Point Marion, Pa., and formerly of Gates, Fayette County, Pa., passed away peacefully in his home on Wednesday, April 19, 2006, with his loving family by his side. He was born on May 16, 1919, the son of Joseph and Anna Goletz.
Edward was a member of Saint Hubert Roman Catholic Church in Point Marion, Pa.
He served his country proudly as a Screaming Eagle in the 101st Airborne Division during World War II.
Additionally, he was the owner of Vera’s Lounge in Carmichaels, Pa., and retired in 1989.
Edward loved life and lived it to the fullest!
He was an avid golfer, fisherman and racecar enthusiast.
He thoroughly enjoyed Sunday afternoon dinners, annual July 4th celebrations, birthdays, golfing at Seven Springs and time with his beloved family and friends. Edward touched everyone’s life with whom he came in contact. All will miss him!
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Joseph Goletz and John Goletz.
Edward is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Vera Goletz; four sons and three daughters who continually made him very proud: Edward Goletz Jr. and his wife, Susan, of Surprise, Arizona, Donald Goletz of Ellicott City, Maryland, Sandra Gearing and her husband, James, of Catlett, Virginia, Nadine Hauk and her husband, Fred, of Sandy, Utah, Gary Goletz and his wife, Theresa, of Masontown, Pa., Vera Jane Kamenos of Greensboro, Pa., and Rock Goletz of Point Marion, Pa.
His memory will be kept by his 12 much-loved grandchildren and 12 adoring great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his three sisters: Mary Lou Hughes, Betty Whitehurst and Margaret Goletz; a brother-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and many, many wonderful friends with whom he shared countless good times.
Friends will be received in the HAKY FUNERAL HOME INC., A Dignity Memorial Provider, 515 North Main Street, Masontown, Pa., today (Monday, April 24, 2006) until 10:30 a.m. when Prayers will be said.
A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. in Saint Mary (Our Lady of Perpetual Help) Roman Catholic Church in Leckrone, Pa., with the Rev. Father Donald P. Trexler as Celebrant.
Interment will follow in Saint Mary’s Cemetery, Leckrone, Pa., where Military Honors will be accorded by the Faith-Gray-McArdle Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4584 of Masontown.
Visitation was also held on Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
